Staff Engineer (HDD Backend Test Process)

Location: Onsite at the Korat facility, Thailand. Travel is not required.

What you will do

• Lead resolution of complex manufacturing, test, and product quality issues.
• Develop strategies to improve yield, test performance, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Release and control PCOs, manage risks, and follow standard operating procedures.
• Manage build configurations according to BOM, ECN, and customer-specific restrictions for heads, media, firmware, and servo code.
• Analyze HDD CERT testing data, identify trends and root causes, and provide yield and test-time assumptions for production planning through the FROST system.
• Support cross-functional engineering teams, process optimization, new product introduction, technology transitions, and manufacturing ramp-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience in manufacturing, process, test, product, or quality engineering.
• Experience with drive test process flow and algorithms, high-volume manufacturing, yield improvement, reliability analysis, and process optimization.
• Expertise in root-cause analysis and problem-solving methods including 8D, DMAIC, Fishbone, 5 Why, and FMEA.
• Knowledge of statistical data analysis, process control, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, and FMEA.
• Good command of English and Thai is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with HDD manufacturing, backend test operations, or storage technology.
• Experience with JMP, Minitab, SQL, Python, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional stakeholder management experience.
