Senior Data Scientist (Insurance)

Location: New Jersey; hybrid or remote as applicable

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, opportunities, and answers to critical business questions.
• Develop, test, and support predictive models for pricing optimization, claims forecasting, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and business performance forecasting.
• Apply statistical methods, machine learning, data mining, A/B testing, and program effectiveness analysis.
• Design and maintain dashboards and KPI reporting solutions using Power BI and Tableau.
• Partner with underwriting, product, marketing, operations, leadership, data engineering, and governance teams.
• Improve data quality and documentation while contributing to curated data assets and analytical datasets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or a related role.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Strong expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining.
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and building scalable, repeatable analytical solutions.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance or financial services, especially with quotes, policies, claims, rating, or customer data.
• Auto insurance experience.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, Databricks, or similar cloud-based data platforms.
