TL;DR
Senior Spacecraft Mission Software Engineer (Aerospace): Building and operating ground-segment services, mission-control interfaces, simulations, test automation, and deployment tooling for spacecraft operations with an accent on telemetry, commanding, reliability, and safety-critical systems. Focus on designing deterministic real-time services, automating flight-software testing, and deploying mission software across lab, test-range, and air-gapped environments.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Employment requires authorization to work in the U.S. and eligibility as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $169,067–$216,031 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain high-reliability ground-segment services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding.
  • Build operator-grade mission-control UIs and dashboards for integration, testing, and on-orbit operations.
  • Create flight-software simulations, device emulators, scenario-based automated tests, and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks.
  • Design and productionize CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, infrastructure-as-code, observability, service templates, and self-service mission tooling.
  • Develop deployment patterns for lab benches, test stands, mission networks, and air-gapped or limited-connectivity environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
  • 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
  • Strong Python expertise and systems fundamentals in concurrency, networking, performance, and reliability.
  • Experience building real-time data acquisition, low-latency messaging, scaling, and distribution services with time-series and relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, dependency and build systems, infrastructure-as-code, logging, metrics, tracing, Docker, Kubernetes, release management, and phased rollouts.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export-control requirements.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in C++, Ansible, and/or NiceGUI.
  • Experience with data acquisition, closed-loop control, mission-grade UIs, structured command workflows, alarming, and situational awareness.
  • Experience with requirements, testing, certification artifacts, ground-system standards, or security in mission networks.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with flexible paid time off and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • Parental, family-building, pregnancy, parenting, menopause, and One Medical benefits.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% immediately vested employer match, incentive equity, and wellness reimbursement.
  • Relocation support may be available for new hires, with catered meals, team events, and complimentary EV charging.
