Principal Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; primarily office-based

Salary: $156,400–$253,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and develop Layer-7 identity and inspection security features for next-generation firewalls.
• Define functional specifications, assess requirements and schedules, and support development, debugging, and maintenance.
• Optimize software for performance, scalability, and security, including identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Improve software development processes and communicate goals across internal project teams.
• Collaborate with product management, quality assurance, and field support throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Interview, mentor, and coach new team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Experience with software development for performance, scalability, and security.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, and software development methodologies, version control, and agile practices.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work primarily from the Santa Clara office.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline.
• Knowledge of TLS and Layer 4–Layer 7 protocols.
• Programming experience in Go.
