Principal Cloud Engineer (Network/Security)

Location: Owings Mills, Maryland, United States; hybrid work with up to three days per week from home. Applicants must have US work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship.

Base salary: $159,000–$272,000 annually for Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers. Employees may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, implementation, and evolution of enterprise cloud platforms, including AWS Landing Zone.
• Design secure, highly available, fault-tolerant, and recoverable cloud foundations using AWS services.
• Build advanced AWS networking with VPCs, Transit Gateway, VPC peering, PrivateLink, and Direct Connect.
• Develop infrastructure as code, reusable modules, reference architectures, guardrails, and self-service platform patterns.
• Own reliability engineering outcomes, observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
• Partner with application development, security, architecture, and infrastructure teams while mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure with senior-level impact, plus a bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Deep hands-on AWS experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
• Expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containers, serverless deployments, operating systems, networking, and identity and access management.
• Strong expertise in reliability engineering, availability, resilience, observability, recovery, incident response, and operational readiness.
• Advanced experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, scripting, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and secure development and operations practices.
• Experience designing and operating enterprise-scale cloud platforms, troubleshooting complex infrastructure and networking issues, and mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Cloud or site reliability engineering certifications.
• Experience in financial services, asset management, investment banking, or fintech.
