TL;DR
Data Scientist (Health Economics) (Healthcare Outcomes/Statistics): Measuring and communicating Pomelo Care's clinical and economic impact through scalable evaluations, payer reporting, and published research with an accent on healthcare outcomes, statistical methodology, and value-based care. Focus on designing publication-grade analyses, building data pipelines and dashboards, and presenting evidence to external partners with varied technical expertise.

Location: Remote within the United States

Base salary: $220,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity eligibility.

What you will do

  • Own the measurement, evaluation, and communication of hirify.global's clinical and economic impact.
  • Define ambiguous analytical mandates, align stakeholders on assumptions, and develop key evaluation questions.
  • Design and execute scalable, repeatable analyses of healthcare programs, extending existing methods or building new approaches when needed.
  • Lead technical engagements with external partners, including methodology alignment and presentation of results.
  • Develop the evidence strategy across payer reporting, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Build data tables, pipelines, and dashboards from diverse health data sources and identify opportunities to automate insights.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional experience developing statistical models for complex healthcare problems.
  • Experience with healthcare outcomes assessment, program evaluation, cost-of-care analysis, or clinical outcomes target setting.
  • Experience using methods such as propensity score matching, regression, clustering, difference-in-differences, and decision trees.
  • Proficiency in Python or R and SQL.
  • Formal training in statistics, econometrics, or actuarial science.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

  • Experience with risk-based or value-based contracting, opportunity sizing, or ROI modeling.
  • Experience working with medical claims data.
  • Peer-reviewed publications in health outcomes or health economics.
  • Experience with Looker, Tableau, Metabase, or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience working with dbt.
