Senior Economist (Hybrid)

Location: Washington, D.C.; regular in-person work in the Washington, D.C. office multiple days per week

Salary: $141,000–$188,000 annually

What you will do

• Conduct applied economic and quantitative research on title, real estate, industry, business, and public policy issues.
• Develop, implement, validate, and interpret economic, statistical, econometric, forecasting, and predictive models.
• Build analytical datasets, variables, metrics, and repeatable research frameworks from large and proprietary data sources.
• Apply statistical and data science methods to identify trends, risks, relationships, and emerging issues.
• Collaborate with economists, data scientists, technical teams, Government Affairs, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Translate complex findings into research briefs, presentations, written commentary, and clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Economics, Applied Economics, or a closely related quantitative discipline preferred; a bachelor’s degree with substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
• Typically 5 or more years of experience in economic analysis, applied research, econometrics, quantitative analytics, data science, policy analysis, or a related field.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets using SQL and statistical programming languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data and analytics platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar technologies.
• Experience developing and evaluating statistical, econometric, forecasting, or predictive models, with strong critical-thinking and analytical judgment.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, collaboration, documentation, and project-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, insurance, housing, real estate, government, public policy, or another regulated or data-intensive industry.
• Interest in public policy, regulation, financial or insurance markets, housing, or real estate.
• Experience using AI-enabled analytical and productivity tools for research, coding, data exploration, and synthesis.
