Director of Product - Marketplace Policy

Location: Hybrid, three days in the office and two days remote, based in New York, NY or Century City, CA

Salary: $325,000–$340,000 USD gross annual base salary, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Define the long-term Marketplace Policy strategy, roadmap, principles, metrics, and governance.
• Own product architecture for listing risk, policy abuse, transaction risk, payment decisioning, seller fault, seller charges, and related policy systems.
• Partner with Engineering and Data Science to build machine-learning and decisioning capabilities that replace manual or blunt controls with differentiated interventions.
• Create configurable risk controls, early-warning mechanisms, monitoring, and frameworks for managing high-risk events and customer cohorts.
• Improve the transparency and consistency of buyer compensation, seller responsibility, policy abuse detection, charges, and non-payment decisions.
• Lead cross-functional recommendations on marketplace economics, risk appetite, governance, and high-stakes tradeoffs.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in product management, marketplace strategy, risk, trust and safety, fintech, fraud, payments, operations technology, decision science, or a systems-intensive environment.
• Experience owning a high-stakes risk, policy, or decisioning system with meaningful customer, commercial, and financial consequences.
• Strong analytical, economic, commercial, and financial judgment, including experience influencing a P&L, loss line, risk portfolio, or comparable business outcome.
• Experience designing systems where models, rules, policies, workflows, and human judgment interact.
• Deep fluency with quantitative decision-making, predictive models, experimentation, measurement, and model performance.
• Ability to communicate contested recommendations to senior executives and align Product, Engineering, Data Science, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and commercial stakeholders.
