Smart Buildings Integration & Test Engineer

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire, United States. Hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday and a flexible work location on Fridays.

Annual base salary: $97,406.66–$135,834.99.

What you will do

• Integrate smart HVAC, lighting, energy management, and edge devices with cloud platforms such as AWS IoT Core and Azure IoT Hub.
• Design, build, and maintain a physical integration test lab, test benches, and prototyping infrastructure.
• Validate BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread protocol stacks, device profiles, BACnet object discovery, and BTL compliance.
• Test hardware-to-software integration across controllers, thermostats, edge devices, expansion modules, and enterprise platforms.
• Develop automated regression scripts and stress tests with Python, Postman, Jenkins, network sniffers, and laboratory instrumentation.
• Document findings, manage QA records and Jira anomalies, and provide installation guidelines, troubleshooting procedures, and commissioning checklists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Building Automation, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with BAS, HVAC controls, hardware and software testing, or smart building integration.
• Advanced knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, IT/OT networking, IP routing, subnetting, VLANs, and Wireshark.
• Experience with manual and automated testing, Python, Postman, Jira, logic analyzers, DMMs, oscilloscopes, and network analysis.
• Knowledge of HVAC control loops, DDC programming, sequences of operation, electrical schematics, BAS platforms, and semantic building data models.
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity practices such as BACnet/SC and ISA/IEC 62443; relevant certifications include Tridium Niagara N4, AWS Certified Solutions Associate, or ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer.

Nice to have

• Postgraduate qualifications in Electronic Engineering, Project Management, or Technology Management.
• Experience with Tridium Niagara, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens Desigo, or Distech Controls.
• Familiarity with Division 25 Master Systems Integration, Project Haystack, or Brick Schema.
