QA Automation Lead (Líder de Automatización de QA) - Remote First

Location: Bogotá, Colombia; Mexico City, Mexico; or São Paulo, Brazil. Hybrid work is expected, with time in the office based on business or team needs.

What you will do

• Define and evolve the automation roadmap using test-pyramid, risk-based prioritization, and shift-left practices.
• Own the architecture and maintainability of shared Playwright web and API frameworks, with Appium or WebdriverIO where mobile automation applies.
• Establish organization-wide quality standards, release-blocking coverage criteria, flakiness thresholds, and automation guidelines.
• Integrate automated testing into GitHub Actions, including smoke testing on pull requests, regression testing on deployments, reporting, and failure triage.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Platform, and Infrastructure teams on test environments, test data, capacity trade-offs, and adoption plans.
• Mentor QA engineers and developers on automation practices, code review, framework adoption, and technical hiring signals.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software quality engineering experience with deep test automation experience.
• Hands-on ownership of web and API automation frameworks; strong Playwright experience is preferred.
• Experience designing modular, data-driven test suites with page or screen object patterns, tagging, and selective CI execution.
• Strong TypeScript and/or JavaScript programming skills, plus API testing, SQL, and test-data design experience.
• Experience with CI/CD integration, flaky-test management, parallelization, and risk-based test prioritization.
• Excellent English is required; Spanish is beneficial for Latin American collaboration.

Nice to have

• Mobile automation experience with Appium or BrowserStack.
• Experience with AI-assisted QA tooling, MCP, Playwright CLI workflows, n8n, Linear, or internal test-management platforms.
• Financial or fintech product experience, particularly with payments, cards, or onboarding.
• ISTQB certification or experience as a QA Tech Lead or SDET Lead.
