Principal Quality Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from Mexico, Peru, Colombia, or Uruguay; listed cities include Mexico City and Bogota.

Base salary: $80,000–$100,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the company-wide quality engineering roadmap and accountability framework.
• Define test strategies across unit, component, contract, API, end-to-end, mobile, performance, load, and accessibility testing.
• Build and advance AI-native tooling for test generation, code review, and quality guidance.
• Own CI/CD quality gates, E2E and visual regression pipelines, performance budgets, and mobile test automation across emulators and real-device clouds.
• Connect monitoring and production quality signals to incident response and actionable dashboards.
• Mentor QA engineers across squads and provide technical input to their Engineering Managers.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining component, contract, API, end-to-end, and performance test suites.
• Experience using AI for quality engineering, including agentic tools such as Claude Code or MCP-based workflows.
• Ability to design testing approaches appropriate to a team’s maturity without imposing tools or coverage targets prematurely.
• Experience building CI pipelines, quality gates, test infrastructure, and automation tooling.
• Ability to coach engineers and lead quality improvements through technical influence without initial direct management responsibility.
• Hiring, coaching, and performance-management experience for QA or engineering teams is beneficial as the role may later manage the QA squad.
