Medical Director

Location: Grandview Heights, Ohio, United States; normal office environment with some travel required.

Salary: $149,000–$249,000 expected starting annual range; national range up to $279,000.

What you will do

• Provide morbidity risk assessments for insurance riders, including waiver of premium and long-term care.
• Interpret EKGs and stress tests and advise underwriters on referred medical cases.
• Develop and deliver medical training and coaching for underwriters and other associates.
• Improve the medical training curriculum and contribute to medical underwriting guidelines.
• Evaluate laboratory tests and medical technologies from mortality prediction and cost-benefit perspectives.
• Participate in underwriting strategy development, industry meetings, and selected patient-care events.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited medical school program.
• Current medical license in good standing in at least one state.
• At least five years of clinical practice experience after residency.
• Knowledge of medicine and the ability to analyze complex medical problems related to mortality.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to train technical and non-technical associates.
• This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization; hirify.global does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

Nice to have

• Board certification in internal medicine, family medicine, or emergency medicine.
• Experience or interest in the life insurance business.
• Progress toward board certification in insurance medicine.
