Medical Director (Psychiatry)

Location: Remote-NY; candidates must hold an active, unrestricted New York MD or DO license and ideally reside in New York or have working ties to the state.

Salary: $215,000–$408,500 per year

What you will do

• Assist the Chief Medical Director in directing medical management, utilization management, quality improvement, and credentialing functions.
• Lead medical reviews involving complex, controversial, experimental, unusual, or new services, including medical necessity and claims reviews.
• Develop and implement quality improvement, cost-containment, utilization management, and provider performance initiatives.
• Coordinate care for high-risk patients through regular rounds and collaboration with care management teams.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, providers, appeals teams, medical and pharmacy consultants, and physician committees.
• Support provider network development, physician education, regulatory committees, and new market expansion.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.
• Board certification in a recognized medical specialty; Psychiatry certification is required.
• Current unrestricted New York MD or DO license with no government-program restrictions, limitations, or sanctions.
• Active medical practice and experience or knowledge in utilization management, quality improvement, or accreditation standards.
• Ability to review complex cases, assess medical necessity, and work with culturally diverse populations.
• Availability to work weekends or holidays when required by business operations.
