Senior Officer, Model Frameworks – Global Health (AI)

Location: Seattle, WA, United States; the role is tied to U.S. work authorization.

Salary: $290,100–$324,100 USD annually for Seattle and Washington, D.C. locations. The general range is $190,100–$294,700 USD annually.

What you will do

• Build, evaluate, and deploy AI-enabled modeling components across agent-based, compartmental, and statistical modeling paradigms.
• Develop data pipelines, context engineering, tool interfaces, evaluation harnesses, and guardrails for robust and reproducible systems.
• Design AI capabilities for scientific literature synthesis, natural-language access to research data, structured extraction, and agentic research workflows.
• Produce well-tested, maintainable code using CI/CD, code review, and modern engineering practices.
• Independently plan and deliver concurrent projects, communicate tradeoffs, and resolve open-ended modeling problems.
• Partner with IDM researchers, PST researchers, and LMIC-based research partners to accelerate global health research.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent impact in research software or computational modeling.
• Hands-on generative AI experience, including agent design, tool use, context management, and AI system quality evaluation.
• Experience with computational modeling such as agent-based models, compartmental models, or statistical and machine learning approaches.
• Experience delivering maintainable, well-tested code in a CI/CD-enabled workflow.
• Ability to work independently on multi-week projects, communicate tradeoffs, and adapt priorities.
• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States is required. Immigration-related sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience with global health, public health, epidemiology, computational biology, infectious disease modeling, or scientific computing.
• Open-source software development experience, including contribution workflows and documentation.
• Experience with cloud-based data and compute platforms for large-scale analysis or simulation.
• Experience designing production AI systems with long-running task orchestration, evaluation harnesses, and guardrails.
• Experience working in LMIC contexts or designing software for low-resource or low-bandwidth environments.
