Permit Reviewer (AI)

Location: Remote - United States; applicants must be based in the United States

Salary: $50–$75 per hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Review and correct AI-generated pass/fail verdicts, written rationales, code citations, and evidence locations on PDF architectural plans.
• Review and correct labeling, assess AI outputs, and grade agent performance against real permit-review conclusions.
• Interpret permitting checklists and apply relevant requirements to submitted new-build, alteration, and modification plans.
• Trace checklist requirements to the applicable IBC, IRC, state building code, or county and jurisdiction-specific amendment.
• Explain which requirement applies and why, turning corrections into training signals for the AI system.

Requirements

• United States-based with at least 2 years of hands-on permitting experience; 5 or more years strongly preferred.
• ICC certification relevant to building plan review.
• Experience reviewing permit applications and issuing or resolving plan-review comments.
• Deep knowledge of permitting practices in the United States, with preference for experience in Arizona, California, Florida, or Texas.
• Plan examiner or Certified Building Official experience and credentials, including certification details, jurisdictions, and project types reviewed.
