Research Economist (Real Estate)

Location: College Station, Texas. The position allows an alternate work location per Texas A&M guidelines and may require travel, weekend work, or work outside normal hours.

Texas A&M University’s Texas Real Estate Research Center conducts applied research on real estate, urban economics, rural economics, and related economic conditions.

What you will do

• Propose and complete applied research projects focused on real estate asset classes and cross-cutting economic issues.
• Apply advanced economic, statistical, and research-design methods to analyze financial, economic, and real estate trends affecting Texas.
• Develop subject-matter expertise and maintain high standards of data integrity, objectivity, and political neutrality.
• Translate research findings into blog posts, articles, videos, technical reports, and actionable insights.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to industry, community, government, and other stakeholder audiences.
• Collaborate with researchers, support research planning, and respond to media and external information requests.

Requirements

• PhD in economics, real estate, or a related field.
• At least seven years of applied economic or market research, forecasting, or analysis experience.
• Ability to communicate complex results effectively in writing and oral presentations.
• Experience with analytical software such as R, Python, or equivalent tools.
• Ability to manage concurrent research projects, work independently, and collaborate effectively.
• Ability to travel for presentations and events.

Nice to have

• Ten years of applied economic or market research, forecasting, or analysis experience.
• Advanced research methods including econometrics, time-series analysis, difference-in-differences, synthetic control, segmentation, or surveys.
• Experience with SAS, public speaking, media engagement, policy engagement, and automated research workflows.
• Experience with API-based data ingestion, modeling, and recurring graphical or tabular output generation.
