Operational Accountant (Onsite/Hybrid in Pittsburgh)

Location: Onsite or hybrid in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

Salary: $50–70 per hour, W2, depending on experience

What you will do

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial reports.
• Manage operational accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, and accruals.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity, investigate discrepancies, and report variances.
• Support internal and external audits, cash flow forecasting, treasury activities, and ad hoc financial analysis.
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls and participate in system implementations and automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, consulting, or a combination of these.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting best practices.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial close activities.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience with process improvement, automation tools, or system implementations.
• CPA, CPA-track status, or an equivalent professional certification.
