Data Engineer Intern (Fintech)

Location: New York, New York, United States

Base salary: $182,000 for Master's students or $234,000 for Ph.D. students

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and architectures for large-scale financial and alternative datasets.
• Improve data quality, integrity, accessibility, and consistency across multiple data sources.
• Enhance internal data platforms, UI tools, and visualizations.
• Partner with DevOps to automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling of data systems.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, developers, and technologists to operationalize data workflows, models, and analytics tools.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Strong coding experience, including Python, SQL, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud infrastructure.
• Exposure to data visualization or internal UI tools such as Dash or React.
• Ability to improve data quality, automate workflows, optimize systems, and collaborate in a high-performance environment.
