Embedded Software Engineer (Satellite Communications)

Location: Reading, England, United Kingdom; hybrid work with regular on-site presence at hirify.global’s Reading sites required for hardware control and debugging.

What you will do

• Analyze software requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
• Design architectures and document new embedded software features.
• Develop, test, and maintain high-quality C++ software for embedded real-time systems.
• Implement automated unit and integration tests.
• Test and debug software in simulation and on target hardware, including performance characterization.
• Investigate software issues and contribute to secure, maintainable, and extensible solutions within an Agile team.

Requirements

• Experience developing C++ software for embedded systems.
• Successful delivery of reliable real-time embedded functionality across the full development lifecycle.
• Competence with Linux and FreeRTOS.
• Understanding of physical interfaces including Serial, Ethernet, SPI, and CAN.
• Experience with hardware debugging, Git-based source code management, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong documentation, peer review, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
