Guidance Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Full-time on-site in Hawthorne/Los Angeles, California, United States

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 base compensation annually

What you will do

• Design and implement guidance and navigation software within commercial off-the-shelf software frameworks.
• Lead guidance software design for a clean-sheet airframe and support airframe design activities.
• Develop guidance algorithms for unmanned aircraft systems using autopilot frameworks such as ArduPilot.
• Integrate software, vendor-provided drivers, and firmware with flight hardware.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on system integration, testing, and product-family development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience.
• Experience with guidance algorithms, UAS platforms, ArduPilot, and fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight dynamics.
• Extensive experience with microcontroller architectures such as STM32 and Linux on Nvidia Jetson, AMD/Xilinx SoC, or Microblaze platforms.
• Experience developing real-time embedded software with hardware interfaces and integrating low-level drivers and firmware.
• U.S. Person status is required to access U.S.-only data systems.

Nice to have

• DoD security clearance and Part 107 remote pilot certification.
• EO/IR or radar sensor integration experience.
• VHDL and AMD/Xilinx FPGA development experience.
• Experience with Git, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and production-level software deployment.
• Experience with high-TRL system development, hardware/software integration and testing, and verification and validation.
