TL;DR
Staff RF Signal Processing Engineer (RF/DSP): Developing electromagnetic warfare spectrum-sensing systems that detect, identify, track, classify, and geolocate RF emissions with an accent on advanced DSP algorithms, I/Q data, and SDR integration. Focus on implementing signal-processing algorithms, integrating software with RF and SDR hardware, and executing field demonstrations for distributed sensing systems.

Location: Hybrid on-site work 3–5 days per week in Hawthorne, California, or Washington, D.C.; periodic travel up to 30%

Base salary: $180,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, and refine DSP algorithms to detect, identify, and track RF signals.
  • Help transform passive radar systems into distributed spectrum-sensing systems.
  • Integrate and test signal-processing software with RF/SDR hardware and host-processing platforms.
  • Work with recorded and synthetic I/Q data for algorithm development and evaluation.
  • Support software integration and field demonstrations of spectrum-sensing technology.
  • Collaborate with Spectrum Sensing, Business Development, Production, and Engineering teams.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant development experience with RF sensing systems and advanced signal processing.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of FFT analysis, matched filtering, and cyclostationary analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, or MATLAB for algorithm development and integration.
  • Experience with software-defined radios, signal-processing toolkits, recorded I/Q data, and synthetic I/Q data generation.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance required.

Nice to have

  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field and a current U.S. security clearance.
  • Expertise in cyclostationary processing, electromagnetic spectrum sensing, and signal classification.
  • Experience identifying communication waveforms and applying machine learning to signal classification.
  • Experience with tactical applications, RFSOC hardware, DoD or government environments, JIRA, and Confluence.
