WABC-TV (ABC7) Technology Intern (Broadcast Technology)

Location: New York, New York, United States. Onsite part-time internship from January 2027 through June 2027; candidates must provide housing and reliable transportation in the New York area.

Pay: $22.50 per hour, with select benefits potentially included depending on the position and compensation package.

WABC-TV is a Disney/ABC-owned television station whose technology team designs and maintains broadcast, IT, and newsroom systems.

What you will do

• Support senior engineers and project managers with testing new software deployments.
• Develop training materials for broadcast, IT, and newsroom systems.
• Troubleshoot broadcast issues and investigate operational problems.
• Work with production teams to understand workflows and propose time-saving solutions.
• Collaborate with design engineers on equipment lists for new studio builds and verify delivery requirements.

Requirements

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with video production through coursework, projects, or internships.
• Experience in television, video, or digital content production environments.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail and organization.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, be at least 18 years old, and possess unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
• Must be available for 24 hours per week from January through June 2027, including possible nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with broadcast production and distribution systems.
• Understanding of the network affiliate relationship model.
• Previous television work or internship experience.
• Junior or senior standing with a major or coursework in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Video Production, or a related field.
