Research & Development Industrial Placement (Associate Researcher - BSc) 2027

Location: Newcastle Innovation Centre, UK. This is a full-time, 12-month onsite industrial placement from 5 July 2027 to 30 June 2028. Candidates must have their own right to work in the UK for the full placement duration without sponsorship.

Salary: £27,000 per year.

What you will do

• Work on individual research and development projects as part of a wider project team.
• Develop and test fabric care and home care products in hands-on laboratories and pilot plants.
• Apply technical skills to intellectually challenging problems and live business challenges.
• Collaborate with R&D, product development and technology teams.
• Build teamwork and leadership skills through practical experience and training.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a BSc in a scientific or engineering discipline, including chemistry, chemical engineering, life sciences, forensic science, microbiology, laboratory management or physical sciences.
• Normally graduating in 2029 with a placement year as part of the degree; applications are also welcomed from students graduating in 2027 or 2028 and recent graduates available for a 12-month placement.
• Strong passion for research and innovation, with demonstrated leadership skills.
• Strong verbal and written English language skills.
• Must have independent UK right-to-work permission valid from 5 July 2027 to 30 June 2028 for at least 37.5 hours per week.
• Must be available for the full 12-month placement.
