Senior Data Engineer, Data Management & BI

Location: Fully remote from a non-hirify.global worksite, most commonly an employee's residence; the listed office location is 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, New York.

Salary: USD 115,000–145,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable batch, event-driven, and serverless data pipelines.
• Translate business and product needs into technical designs, data models, integration patterns, and execution plans.
• Develop cloud-native data solutions across data lakes, warehouses, orchestration systems, APIs, and distributed processing platforms.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, observability, operational runbooks, and production support practices.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment workflows, and infrastructure-as-code patterns.
• Partner with analytics, BI, product, engineering, and business stakeholders while mentoring engineers and improving technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience supporting production data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, data architecture, ETL/ELT, metadata, data quality, data warehouses, and data lakes.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services such as S3, Lambda, Athena, EMR, Glue, Step Functions, SNS, or SQS.
• Programming experience with Scala, Java, SQL, or similar data-processing languages, plus distributed platforms such as Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Iceberg, Hive, Redshift, Postgres, or SingleStore.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, Agile delivery, incident response, monitoring, performance tuning, and cross-functional communication.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, advertising, streaming, analytics, or other data-intensive environments.
• Experience with Airflow, AWS Glue, Amazon MWAA, infrastructure-as-code, cloud security, IAM, and secrets management.
• Experience with Tableau, MicroStrategy, Looker, data governance, lineage, observability, data contracts, or production support.
• Interest in emerging data engineering, automation, and AI-assisted development practices.
