What you will do

• Copy-edit short, non-primary research content within agreed turnaround times, ensuring readability, grammatical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to house style.
• Proofread longer-form primary research and review articles for Nature, Nature Research Journals, and Nature Reviews.
• Check figures against the accompanying text and evaluate scientific accuracy and coherence.
• Review author proof corrections and incorporate reasonable and accurate changes.
• Resolve copy-editing queries and coordinate priorities with production staff and colleagues across teams.
• Support other sub-editors according to workload while maintaining accurate, timely, high-quality final content.

Requirements

• Excellent attention to detail and knowledge of the English language.
• Good degree in a physical sciences subject area.
• Strong scientific comprehension, writing, editorial, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure and to deadlines.
• Flexible, adaptable, punctual, and reliable approach.

Nice to have

• Publishing or copy-editing experience.
• Postgraduate science and/or publishing qualification.
