Senior Scientific Editor (Environmental Science)

Location: London, UK or Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Hybrid work from the office and home with flexible hours.

Base pay in Amsterdam: €59,300–€98,800 per year.

What you will do

• Shape the climate-related editorial direction and content portfolio for One Earth.
• Evaluate manuscripts and manage rigorous, fair, and efficient peer review.
• Identify, recruit, and collaborate with expert reviewers and authors.
• Commission and edit Reviews, Perspectives, and other front-matter content.
• Develop thematic issues focused on pressing sustainability challenges.
• Build relationships with the scientific and sustainability community through outreach, conferences, workshops, and institutional visits.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant scientific, social scientific, or interdisciplinary discipline.
• Broad interest across sustainability research, particularly climate mitigation, adaptation, impacts, climate dynamics, and climate interactions with society, ecosystems, health, or sustainable development.
• Strong critical thinking and the ability to evaluate diverse areas of science.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team.
• Interest in scientific publishing, communication, and emerging digital trends; previous editorial experience and established research networks are advantageous.
