Director, Upward Bound Programs

What you will do

• Direct the implementation of the Upward Bound federal grant project, including goals, objectives, activities, and participant services.
• Plan and coordinate college visits, leadership and cultural activities, and the residential summer academy.
• Supervise, recruit, employ, and train full-time and part-time project personnel.
• Manage the project budget, facilities, resources, materials, and administrative functions.
• Evaluate program activities and services, collect data, and submit annual performance reports and other required documentation to the U.S. Department of Education.
• Maintain relationships with university departments and external constituents and complete required institutional training.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Education or a related field.
• At least three years of experience with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged students.
• Experience with staff supervision, budget management, program development and evaluation, reporting, and compliance with federal regulations.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, administrative, and management skills.
• Professional or personal experience overcoming barriers similar to those faced by program participants.
• Good driving record and legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment.

Nice to have

• Doctorate degree.
• Five years of experience in staff supervision, program development and evaluation, reporting, and federal compliance.
• Experience with college access programs, teaching, grant writing, and higher education or secondary education curricula.
• Knowledge of college, career, financial aid, and financial literacy programs.
• Ability to manage and expand program partnerships.
