Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite at hirify.global’s headquarters

Base salary: $83,200–$114,400 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $90,150–$126,425 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Complete thermal modeling and analysis of spacecraft and space vehicles.
  • Conduct thermal design trade studies balancing performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule.
  • Identify and resolve thermal design, acceptance, and performance issues in components and assemblies.
  • Design and execute thermal tests and validate models using test and in-flight data.
  • Collaborate with program, design, test, and engineering teams on thermal design and testing.
  • Research potential vendors of thermal control materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
  • Experience in thermal engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • For U.S. office roles, candidates must satisfy ITAR eligibility requirements, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected status, or applicable government authorization.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at a computer and occasionally in production areas with moderate noise, dust, and fumes.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer, thermal systems, and passive thermal management.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, ANSYS, SINDA, THERMICA, NX Space Systems Thermal, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Experience planning and analyzing thermal balance tests, heat pipes, multi-layer insulation, and 0-D or 1-D thermal/fluid networks.
  • Knowledge of launch and on-orbit operations, orbital mechanics, and attitude dynamics related to thermal analysis.
