Staff Software Engineer (Booking Integrations)

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania; 4 days onsite and 1 day remote per week. Workspaces are also available in Klaipėda and Riga; arrangements outside Vilnius depend on the position.

Salary: €6,000–€8,000 gross per month plus stock options, depending on experience.

A fast-scaling travel startup building a consumer trip-planning and booking product alongside a SaaS subscription platform for travel advisors.

What you will do

• Design, build, and own integrations with suppliers, booking platforms, and partner APIs, including REST/OAuth and legacy SOAP services.
• Architect webhook ingestion, worker queues, and durable processing for bookings, availability, and status updates.
• Design scalable Supabase/PostgreSQL schemas for complex booking data.
• Build sandbox and testing environments, load-test services, and identify bottlenecks before production.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, retries, idempotency, failure recovery, and secure credential handling.
• Shape the TypeScript, Supabase, and TanStack platform while setting engineering standards and making architectural decisions.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and deep backend engineering experience with PostgreSQL, PHP/Laravel, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Expert knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SOAP, WS-Security, XML signatures, API keys, HMAC, JWT, and mutual TLS.
• Experience designing secure webhook systems with signature verification, idempotency, replay protection, deduplication, ordering, rate limiting, and dead-letter handling.
• Hands-on experience with AWS SQS, Temporal, or an equivalent durable execution or queue system.
• Experience integrating poorly documented or legacy APIs and securely managing credentials, tokens, encryption, rotation, and tenant isolation.
• Technical leadership experience, including influencing architecture and leading initiatives across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Datadog or similar monitoring and alerting tools.
• Experience working directly with external partners’ engineering teams.
