PHP Backend Engineer (Billing)

Location: Hybrid, with offices in Vilnius and Kaunas; work is also available from home or anywhere in the world.

Salary: Gross salary starting from €5,000/month, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Own part of the billing domain end to end, from business requirements through design, release, and monitoring.
• Design and maintain integrations with internal and third-party services using APIs, webhooks, and events.
• Build billing systems that scale, support extensibility, calculate prices correctly, and remain reliable in asynchronous workflows.
• Collaborate with other teams, answer billing-related questions, and help shape implementation decisions.
• Review code, influence engineering practices, and keep legacy code and processes maintained.

Requirements

• Strong PHP skills with solid knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, SQL, queues, and event-driven systems.
• Regular use of unit and integration testing.
• Experience working on a large production system, ideally including on-call responsibilities.
• Ability to explain complex problems and trade-offs clearly in writing and conversation.
• Architectural thinking, including understanding domain boundaries and how systems fit together.
