Senior Manager - Export Controls and Customs Compliance

What you will do

• Deliver the operational component of the export controls and third-party risk programme across the UK, Norway, EU, US, and APAC.
• Manage export licensing compliance, end-user certificates, restricted-party screening, sanctions monitoring, and export classification activities.
• Oversee importer and exporter of record arrangements, logistics providers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, Incoterms, and trade documentation.
• Operate asset transfer controls, including GPU location validation, reconciliation, post-shipment verification, and denied-party screening.
• Design and run assurance and audit plans, control testing, findings logs, and remediation tracking for logistics, customs, and export controls.
• Provide first-line guidance, maintain the compliance case register, and create practical procedures, decision trees, playbooks, and training.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with US Export Administration Regulations and UK export controls, including licensing, classification, end-use, and end-user analysis.
• Experience classifying software and technology exports, including ECCN determination and UK/EU dual-use control-list mapping.
• Experience with sanctions regimes across multiple jurisdictions and governance, risk, compliance, and due-diligence screening tools.
• Hands-on customs and trade operations compliance experience, including commodity classification, Incoterms, importer/exporter of record structures, customs valuation, and country of origin.
• Experience designing or running third-party audits, ideally for logistics providers, customs brokers, or freight forwarders.
• Ability to operationalise compliance requirements through processes, tooling, and training, and to exercise sound judgement with senior stakeholders.
