Senior Sanctions Oficer (Financial Crime): Providing sanctions advice and guidance to UK business areas while supporting sanctions referrals, investigations, policies, training, and compliance projects with an accent on UK and international economic and trade sanctions, export controls, and complex case analysis. Focus on interpreting legal and regulatory developments, strengthening sanctions controls, drafting reports and communications, and managing stakeholder relationships across the business.
Location: Hybrid role based in Norwich, London, York, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, or another UK office; at least three days per week in the office or onsite with clients.

What you will do
- Provide sanctions advice on UK and international economic and trade sanctions and export controls.
- Respond to sanctions enquiries, referrals, escalations, and complex cases.
- Build relationships with business areas and functions to provide ongoing compliance support.
- Support the development, maintenance, and rollout of sanctions policies, procedures, processes, systems, and controls.
- Support sanctions projects, workstreams, regulatory updates, communications, and internal and external reporting.
- Deliver training and keep the business informed about relevant legal and regulatory developments.
Requirements
- Experience working in sanctions within the financial services sector.
- Broad knowledge of UK, EU, UN, and US economic and trade sanctions legislation and export controls.
- Proven sanctions advisory experience and the ability to analyse complex cases and applicable regulations.
- Strong analytical, written, verbal communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure, learn procedures quickly, and support a busy team.
- Experience delivering training.
Nice to have
- Experience in the insurance sector and knowledge of its regulatory requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of economic and trade sanctions and export controls.
- Working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, including data analysis, reporting, and training presentations.
- University degree or recognised industry accreditation, such as an ICA qualification.
