Senior Ruby Developer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Armenia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, or Ukraine

Work on an in-house platform for a well-established online travel company based in the Netherlands, helping travellers search, compare, and book package deals, flights, and hotels.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain features in a Rails 8.1 application serving real customer traffic.
• Own key platform areas from technical design through production delivery.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, technical planning, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, maintainability, and legacy code quality.
• Support deployments, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Build integrations with third-party travel suppliers and internal services while promoting automated testing, CI/CD, documentation, and maintainable upgrade paths.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial Ruby experience.
• Strong hands-on Ruby on Rails production experience, including Rails 7 or 8.
• Hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience, preferably running Rails applications on GCP.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience writing automated tests with RSpec or Minitest.
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher. Proactive ownership and the ability to work autonomously are also required.

Nice to have

• Experience migrating applications from on-premise infrastructure to the cloud.
• Travel, e-commerce, or booking platform experience.
• Background job processing with Sidekiq or Solid Queue and caching with Redis or Solid Cache.
• Hotwire, Docker, Terraform, external API integrations, Rails major-version upgrades, or mentoring experience.
