Senior Electrical Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: College Park, Maryland, United States; minimum three days per week on site

What you will do

• Design custom board-level control electronics for quantum computers, including precision analogue, RF, mixed-signal DAC and ADC, FPGA, and high-speed logic systems.
• Own designs from schematic capture and simulation through working, measured prototypes.
• Characterise hardware using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and other test and measurement equipment.
• Write automated test scripts for hardware evaluation.
• Contribute to design reviews and integrate separate electronic assemblies into a complete quantum computer.
• Adapt designs and execution plans as product requirements evolve.

Requirements

• Substantial board-level electrical design experience with a significant analogue component.
• Ability to work across both time-domain and frequency-domain problems.
• Laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and automated measurements.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Ability to work on site in College Park, Maryland at least three days per week.
• For U.S. export-control and government-contract work, candidates must satisfy applicable U.S. Person or authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in scientific instrumentation, test and measurement, aerospace, defence electronics, or demanding measurement, control, or signal-generation hardware.
• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
• FPGA and high-speed digital experience alongside analogue design.
• Experience in a rapidly scaling company where engineers handle multiple responsibilities.
• Early prototyping and iterative hardware development experience.
