Staff Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from Canada, with optional access to offices in Montreal and Toronto.

Salary: CAD 225,000–275,000 base salary per year, plus equity, performance-based increases, benefits, and paid time off.

What you will do

• Design and drive security solutions across product, internal applications, infrastructure, enterprise systems, and observability.
• Conduct threat modeling for existing systems and new product initiatives.
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security into development and delivery workflows.
• Build and automate alerts, detections, observability, and response workflows using AI tools, agents, and automation.
• Participate in and help lead incident response as part of the on-call rotation.
• Support governance, compliance, and regulatory efforts including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in security engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, including meaningful security experience.
• Strong technical depth in at least one security domain and the ability to work across related domains.
• Advanced hands-on experience with AI tools, agents, and automation for security engineering.
• Experience working in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Hands-on incident response and on-call experience, with strong communication, technical judgment, and ownership.
• Fluency in English is required for customer and platform-related communication.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, crypto, or other regulated environments.
• Product security experience and experience influencing product design.
• AI-assisted security testing, offensive security, vulnerability research, detection engineering, or security observability experience.
• Knowledge of Bitcoin and familiarity with Git or GitHub.
