What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and governance for reliability and mechanical engineering across platinum operations.
• Set reliability, defect elimination, and engineering excellence guidelines across the organisation.
• Lead root cause analysis, defect elimination, and complex failure investigations.
• Oversee reliability communities of practice and ensure learnings are incorporated into service strategies and maintenance tactics.
• Collaborate with OEMs to eliminate equipment and process root causes through engineering solutions.
• Build reliability block diagrams and support project teams with maintainability and reliability input for new designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of professional experience.
• Expertise in reliability systems, defect elimination, failure mechanisms, and major failure investigations.
• Knowledge of metallurgy, corrosion, heat treatment, welding, clean fluids, condition monitoring, alignment, and balancing.
• Advanced knowledge of mining operations, engineering safety standards, risk management, data management, and ERP engineering processes.
• Expertise with process equipment such as concentrators, smelters, converters, boilers, and autoclaves.

Nice to have

• Postgraduate degree in Failure Mechanisms or Reliability Systems.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Government Certificate of Competence for Mining and Factories.
