CFD Engineer (AI)

Location: Perth, Australia. The role includes working directly with customers on-site and global travel to North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania for up to 2–3 weeks per quarter.

What you will do

• Build complex multiphysics CFD models, including geometry cleanup, meshing, simulation, post-processing, and experimental validation.
• Develop parametric CAD models in NX or CATIA and automate simulation pipelines for design optimization and design-of-experiments studies.
• Work with customers, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers to define engineering problems and deliver practical CAE and AI solutions.
• Generate high-quality simulation datasets for machine learning and deep learning models using efficient sampling techniques.
• Use the Flux cloud platform and on-premise HPC resources to accelerate high-fidelity modelling and improve computational performance.
• Lead projects, mentor junior colleagues, and communicate results and actionable recommendations to customers.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of commercial industry experience after a Master’s degree or PhD, outside a research-only environment.
• Deep expertise in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and multiphase modelling.
• High proficiency in at least one of Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or Fluent, including automation of simulation tools.
• Ability to independently set up CFD simulations, interpret complex results, and make sound engineering decisions.
• Willingness to work directly with customers on-site and travel globally up to 2–3 weeks per quarter.

Nice to have

• Experience with parametric CAD modelling in NX or CATIA.
• Programming experience in Python or Java, or the ability to learn programming languages quickly.
