What you will do

  • Lead the design and development of fiber optic gyroscopes and related navigation systems for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Develop and refine scalable manufacturing processes for high-volume FOG production.
  • Establish testing processes for fiber optic coils and develop additional processes such as coil stress conditioning.
  • Analyze test data, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement improvements to FOG performance and reliability.
  • Guide the development of fiber optic coil process tooling, performance metrics, and statistical process control measures.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, production, and production engineering teams to integrate and scale products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with Fiber Optic Gyroscopes and a strong theoretical and practical understanding of FOG physics, including the Sagnac effect.
  • In-depth knowledge of photonics components relevant to FOGs, including light sources, optical fibers, couplers, modulators, and detectors.
  • Experience designing and integrating electro-optical systems.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes for optical or precision electro-mechanical systems, including large-scale production challenges.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and accountability skills.
