Data Science Engineer V - US (Generative AI)

Location: US — work from home

Salary: $165,830–$243,141.80 per year, depending on geographic market, knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional compensation may include annual bonuses or incentives, equity awards, and an ESPP.

What you will do

• Architect and own end-to-end delivery of complex statistical, machine learning, generative AI, R, and Shiny initiatives.
• Set technical direction, lead design reviews, and build reusable tools and libraries that scale data science products across teams.
• Design human-in-the-loop validation and bias, safety, and explainability evaluations for high-stakes models, with particular attention to pediatric populations.
• Partner with clinicians, clinical subject-matter experts, business owners, and Research PIs on problem definition, study design, analysis planning, and interpretation of results.
• Advise on HPC and research-computing resources for compute-intensive modeling and analytical studies.
• Mentor junior and mid-level data scientists on modeling, R/Shiny practices, and responsible AI.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States and work from home.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field, or equivalent experience.
• 6–9 years of data science experience with significant project ownership.
• 4–6 years of hands-on experience building and productionizing machine learning or generative AI solutions.
• 4–6 years of hands-on experience with R, RStudio, and Shiny application development, including production-grade interactive tools.
• At least one year of informal experience mentoring data scientists, plus advanced expertise in statistics, machine learning, data mining, and generative AI architecture.

Nice to have

• Responsible-AI evaluation experience in pediatric or clinical settings.
• Experience with fine-tuning, advanced RAG, or agentic architectures.
• Experience with HPC or research-computing environments for large-scale or compute-intensive studies.
• Working relationships with Research PIs, including input on study design or analysis planning.
