Engineer Staff, Mechanical (Robotics & Automation): Developing automated machines and mechanical hardware for production environments with an accent on robotics, mechanical design, analysis, and cross-disciplinary integration. What you will do

  • Develop automated machines, mechanical hardware, and detailed production-ready designs.
  • Evaluate mechanical concepts and apply FEA and CFD to analyze stress, thermal effects, structural dynamics, and electronics cooling.
  • Use 2D and 3D CAD tools to create fully documented mechanical designs.
  • Design, program, teach, calibrate, and troubleshoot industrial and collaborative robot systems.
  • Integrate robots with tooling, sensors, conveyors, PLCs, HMIs, cameras, and factory communication networks.
  • Manage design requirements, supplier assessments, project activities, commissioning, and performance verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of R&D experience involving full-scale product or machine development, including 3–5 years in industrial robotics, automation, machine design, or system integration.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical controls, sensors, robotics, industrial automation, pneumatics, machine design, materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with robot programming, teaching, calibration, troubleshooting, robot kinematics, end-of-arm tooling, safety devices, and robot accuracy analysis.
  • Experience integrating robots with PLCs, sensors, tooling, conveyors, vision systems, and industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, or Modbus TCP.
  • Proficiency with 2D/3D mechanical CAD tools, including SolidEdge or SolidWorks, plus GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Nice to have

  • Professional certification or training from a robot manufacturer.
  • Experience with pick-and-place, assembly, insertion, dispensing, palletizing, inspection, installation, commissioning, qualification, or production ramp-up.
  • Experience with suppliers, turnkey machine builders, industrial cameras, lenses, lighting, and image-processing software such as Matrox, Cognex, Keyence, or HALCON.
  • Knowledge of OCR, pattern recognition, measurement, defect detection, camera calibration, and camera-to-robot coordinate transformation.
  • Excellent spoken, listening, and written English communication skills.
