Location: Filton, Bristol, United Kingdom; onsite apprenticeship. Year 1 combines study at Weston College with two days per week onsite at hirify.global Filton from February to June; Years 2–4 are based onsite at hirify.global Filton.

What you will do

  • Support structural test campaigns for components, test specimens, rigs, hydraulic systems, and aircraft wings.
  • Perform machining using lathes, mills, and surface grinders to create or modify simple components.
  • Assemble mechanical systems and install sensors, inclinometers, string potentiometers, and high-speed cameras.
  • Use metrology techniques for precise physical measurements and manufacture cables and bespoke connectors.
  • Install and commission control and data acquisition systems while supporting laboratory activities from preparation through execution.
  • Depending on the specialisation, perform equipment calibrations, maintain calibration records, troubleshoot faulty equipment, and support ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance.

Requirements

  • Current legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom is required.
  • At least five GCSEs are required, including Maths at grade C/4 or above, English at grade C/4 or above, and three additional GCSEs at grade C/4 or above.
  • Equivalent or higher qualifications may be considered for the three additional GCSEs, subject to validation.
  • Hands-on workshop skills and experience using a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Curiosity, effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving ability, and an interest in aerospace and sustainable civil aircraft.
  • CV with predicted or achieved grades and a cover letter explaining motivation for the role and industry.

Nice to have

  • Practical experience from DIY projects, building or repairing things, model making, technology projects, cooking, baking, beauty work, or similar activities.
  • Interest in mechanical testing, data acquisition, advanced calibration, or metrology.
