Mechanical & Durability Test Engineers (Robotics)

What you will do

• Define and execute mechanical validation plans for robot components, subsystems, and complete robots.
• Run strength, stiffness, stability, tip-over, drop, impact, collision, static-load, dynamic-load, and accelerated-life tests.
• Conduct environmental testing for vibration, shock, thermal cycling, humidity, and dust/water ingress.
• Design and fabricate test fixtures, jigs, and stands using CAD and shop tools.
• Instrument tests with strain gauges, load cells, torque sensors, encoders, and DAQ systems; analyze and report results.
• Lead teardowns, failure analysis, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, verification testing, and ship/no-ship recommendations.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on mechanical test, validation, or reliability engineering experience in robotics, automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, or consumer hardware.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on experience building test setups, using shop tools, and instrumenting tests with strain gauges, load cells, and DAQ systems.
• Experience designing and running fatigue, durability, or accelerated-life tests.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Onshape for fixture design.
• Strong root-cause analysis and technical writing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience testing actuators, gearboxes, legged robots, or wheeled robots.
• Experience with vibration, shock, thermal, IP testing, and standards including IEC 60068 and IEC 60529.
• Familiarity with FEA, test-to-simulation correlation, FMEA, Weibull analysis, HALT, or HASS.
• Python, MATLAB, or JMP experience for test-data analysis.
• Experience with X-ray/CT, microscopy, cross-sectioning, contract manufacturers, or suppliers in Asia.
