Project Director (Nuclear)

Location: Near Whitehaven, Cumbria, United Kingdom. Hybrid arrangement with office-based work required at least three days per week. Applicants must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Define, establish, and deliver one mega project or a suite of high-value, complex, high-risk nuclear projects supporting Sellafield’s strategic objectives.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and contractor organisations of up to 500 indirect reports.
• Develop project execution strategies, business cases, organisational structures, resource plans, and project baselines.
• Manage supply chain strategies and contracts with total project values of up to £2bn, including contractor performance and strategic negotiations.
• Control project safety, security, quality, cost, schedule, risk, milestones, and earned value performance.
• Manage government-level stakeholders, international supply chains, project interdependencies, governance, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• APM Registered Project Professional (RPP), APM Chartered Project Professional (ChPP), or Senior Project Manager Level 4 qualification.
• Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline or extensive equivalent experience.
• Extensive project management experience delivering large projects or project suites in the nuclear industry or another highly regulated, safety-critical environment.
• Experience in nuclear engineering or a comparable safety-critical environment, including developing and implementing project plans across all project stages.
• Proven experience leading people and working in matrix environments, with a track record of delivering highly complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Right to live and work in the United Kingdom is required; sponsorship is not available.
