Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States

Salary: $148,700–$199,400 per year, plus potential bonus, long-term incentive units, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain the JavaScript player powering streaming experiences for Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.
• Optimize playback performance across browsers, televisions, gaming consoles, set-top boxes, and other resource-constrained platforms.
• Lead architecture and technical design for cross-platform player features.
• Investigate playback issues and collaborate with application, services engineering, and product teams on device limitations and requirements.
• Lead testing, deployment quality, stability, and telemetry strategies, including build and continuous integration systems.
• Provide technical expertise, mentoring, and high development standards for the engineering team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience.
• Highly fluent JavaScript and web development skills, including browser and web-based client development.
• Experience developing and optimizing high-performance client-side media applications.
• Streaming technology experience with HLS or DASH, DRM such as PlayReady or Widevine, adaptive bitrate streaming, captions and subtitles, and media codecs.
• Experience with build runners or compilation tools for multi-platform projects.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and mentoring skills, plus a BS or BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience developing for living-room devices such as Samsung, LG, Hisense, or Vizio.
• Experience with gaming consoles, Android devices, Fire TV, or similar platforms.
