Software Development Engineer (Backend)

Location: Remote anywhere in Mexico; availability to travel to Mexico City for occasional office events

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, highly available backend services and APIs.
• Design backend solutions for performance, reliability, observability, and distributed systems running in cloud and Kubernetes environments.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, data, and machine learning teams on technical designs and end-to-end solutions.
• Apply engineering practices including automated testing, code review, CI/CD, instrumentation, and operational runbooks.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve system resilience.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend or server-side development for scalable, highly available systems.
• Experience building and operating RESTful or gRPC services and APIs using Java, C#, Python, Go, or a similar language.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases and messaging or streaming technologies.
• Experience collaborating in cross-functional agile teams to deliver production software.
