Principal Software Developer (Product Data)

Location: Hybrid, based in Montreal or Toronto, Canada. Relocation to Canada is an option.

What you will do

• Lead team-level outcomes, critical business goals, and high-stakes initiatives across hirify.global Platform Services.
• Design, deliver, and own cloud platform capabilities from engineering practices and solutions through quality, deployment, and support.
• Lead technical discussions, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
• Plan and execute complex projects with unclear milestones while monitoring quality, delivery, and team performance.
• Act as a Product Owner when balancing architectural roadmaps, product management requirements, and service improvements.
• Mentor engineers and create opportunities for knowledge sharing across teams.

Requirements

• Graduate or postgraduate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of software design, development, or consulting experience in cloud systems or web services, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience leading the successful delivery of a commercial cloud product and leading incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive action.
• Excellent hands-on Java programming skills and exposure to Spring Boot.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider, scalable cloud systems, databases, API development using REST, GraphQL, or gRPC, and object-oriented design patterns.
• Experience with SDLC processes, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and deployment pipelines such as Jenkins; additional Go or TypeScript skills are required.
