Director of Global Trade Compliance (Export Controls)

Location: Remote within the United States; applicants must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations.

Base salary: $200,000–$230,000 USD annually, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the global trade compliance program covering export controls, import and customs compliance, sanctions, and anti-boycott regulations.
• Develop policies, procedures, and internal controls across jurisdictions where Voyager operates or sells.
• Oversee product and technology classification, including ECCN, USML, and HTS, and manage export, re-export, and transfer licensing.
• Lead customs activities involving valuation, country of origin, tariff classification, and duty management.
• Manage restricted-party, sanctioned-country, and embargoed-entity screening across sales, procurement, and partnerships.
• Conduct audits, remediate compliance gaps, respond to incidents and government inquiries, advise cross-functional leaders, and build the trade compliance team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in global trade compliance, export controls, or customs, ideally in aerospace, defense, or advanced technology.
• Strong operational knowledge of ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions programs, and U.S. customs and import regulations.
• Direct experience working with BIS, DDTC, CBP, or OFAC.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills and confidence advising senior executives.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person and be eligible to obtain required U.S. export authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience in the space, satellite, or defense sectors.
• CUSECO or Certified Customs Specialist certification.
• Experience with global expansion, M&A due diligence, or multinational supply chains.
