QA Engineering Manager (Desktop Apps)

Location: Remote for candidates permanently based in the United States; Eastern Time Zone preferred.

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 annually, depending on location and experience, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop an existing distributed team of QA engineers.
• Own the QA roadmap and prioritize testing and tooling based on customer impact.
• Lead quality planning and release readiness for enterprise rollouts.
• Recreate customer environments, isolate failures, validate fixes, and prevent regressions.
• Improve testing through exploratory testing, targeted automation, and engineering-owned coverage across Mac, Windows, Chrome, and Edge.
• Communicate quality evidence, risks, and next steps to engineering, product, design, customer success, and customer IT stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience managing QA engineers and improving quality at a high-growth technology company.
• Strong coaching, performance management, and team-building skills.
• Experience reproducing difficult customer issues and verifying fixes before release.
• Ability to turn product and customer risks into a practical QA strategy.
• Ability to align stakeholders and explain technical trade-offs to customers.
• Sound technical judgment and comfort investigating ambiguity, escalating risks, and making release decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with desktop applications, browser extensions, enterprise device management, security software, or authentication.
• Experience leading a distributed team.
