Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering (AI)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States

Salary: $184,500–$258,000 total cash range, with potential pay up to $295,000 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable, secure, and reliable software services.
• Provide technical direction across system design, API design, data modeling, service architecture, and operational quality.
• Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to turn customer and business requirements into reusable technical solutions.
• Guide service and feature lifecycles through development, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, incident resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Use metrics, experimentation, analytics, and feature performance data to improve reliability, system performance, and user experience.
• Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions and guide teams in using AI-driven tools and workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level; a technical degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience and 3+ years of people management experience.
• Technical leadership and ownership across services, multi-service architectures, or a product domain.
• Strong proficiency in data structures, algorithms, system design, API design, and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with modern web technologies, frameworks, service architectures, and AI-driven tools or workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience evolving multi-service or multi-component architectures and integration patterns.
• Experience with performance tuning, resilience, reliability engineering, or optimization of high-traffic services and user interfaces.
• Operational excellence practices including instrumentation, observability, alerting, on-call participation, and incident response.
• Experience with experimentation, feature flags, A/B testing, analytics, and service metrics.
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities and adopting AI tooling for code quality, testing, and operations.
