Vehicle Software SRE Engineering Manager (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid working model with in-person collaboration and remote work

Salary: $276,100–$293,750 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Build the Vehicle Software SRE team, including its charter, structure, hiring plan, operating model, and technical strategy.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development for engineers.
• Design and implement reliability foundations for onboard software across vehicle platforms and markets.
• Establish SLOs, error budgets, production-readiness standards, observability, and diagnostic tooling.
• Lead incident investigations, define recovery workflows, and improve deployment safety through validation, release gates, rollback mechanisms, and resilience testing.
• Coordinate with Vehicle Software teams and company leaders on reliability risks, ownership, priorities, and operational roadmaps.

Requirements

• Hybrid work in Sunnyvale, California, USA.
• 3+ years of engineering-management experience with responsibility for hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development.
• 8+ years building or operating complex production software in SRE, production engineering, platform engineering, embedded systems, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience writing production-quality code, designing systems, and reviewing critical changes across Linux and distributed systems.
• Experience applying SLOs, error budgets, observability, incident management, and release-safety practices.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, automotive, or other safety-critical systems.
